eagle's nest traditional arts center

Bordering Eagle's Nest's main activity field, the Traditional Arts Center houses the art programs for this camp and environmental education school. Open studios for performance and art are combined with photographic dark rooms, and costume and instrument storage. The space was designed as a complex of low scaled buildings, in keeping with the character of the surrounding camp buildings.

Open and covered connecting decks provide space for structured and informal outdoor activities as well as a stage for outdoor performances and presentations. A lower level houses a counselor lounge and staff apartment.

Rough-hewn log columns, heavy timber wood trusses, simple materials, and straightforward detailing recall the tradition of camp buildings, simple rural construction and the architectural heritage of the Native Americans, which all relate closely to Eagle's Nest's setting and mission.
