first united methodist church

Due to an expanded number of participants in the choir, fading and worn finishes, and an outdated sound system, the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church was in need of work. A major refurbishment of the pipe organ provided the impetus for this project.
To expand seating in the choir area, the existing chancel was left intact while the wall was moved out twelve feet. The result was three rows of additional raised pews and very little change in appearance. High, round windows accent the side walls and provide natural light to a previously dark area.
The remainder of the sanctuary was enhanced with new paint, flooring materials, improved lighting, and a sound system using a classic color scheme. The exterior of the addition was designed as a telescoping bay that blends seamlessly with the original building by duplicating materials and details.
