French Broad Place

Project Type: New Construction
Location: Brevard, North Carolina

French Broad Place is a four-story mixed-use development on the edge of Brevard’s expanding downtown. With nearly 100,000 SF of enclosed space, the project combines living, working, and shopping within the city’s already-developed and highly walkable downtown.

The design reflects the architectural heritage and character of Brevard and is intended to break down both the scale and height of the building in response to the surrounding context. A system of precast concrete structural and exterior finished panels was selected to solve the logistical and schedule constraints related to the tight site. Veneer brick and sandblasted concrete details accent the exterior and capture the character of traditional downtown commercial buildings.

The original design team included CJMW of Asheville. Harris Architects also provided architectural services for retail and office tenant fit-out.
